Printing

Make beautiful, physical printouts of your code.

Nova supports printing your documents, including syntax highlighting, line numbers, and customizable formatting. Simply open a file in Nova and go to the File menu > Print to get started.

Available Settings

Nova supports printing in both color or black-and-white to any printer set up with your Mac (apple.com). Nova will automatically format your documents, including line wrapping, to fit the paper type and dimensions selected. For the most part, the Print panel will offer the same options as any other Mac app, but Nova also provides its own additional settings when printing.

You can use any color theme available in Nova for syntax highlighting, including third-party themes from installed Extensions. Nova also provides three different printing frames, which add a border and decoration to the page. By default, Nova will print with the same font and formatting settings used for the Editor, but you can customize these settings here, including font-face, size, and spacing.

You can also choose whether to include line numbers on the left side of the page. The header and footer display the name of the file (optionally including its full path), a timestamp (either its last modified date or the date of printing), and the page number.

Once you’ve configured everything as you want it, just click Print and enjoy your beautifully formatted printouts. Or hand them over to your manager, as the case may be.

NOTE: You can also save the print as a PDF or PostScript file from the PDF menu in the Print panel.
