Sync

Use Panic Sync to store your server settings and keys.

Sync Overview

The Sync Settings pane allows you to sign into and configure Panic Sync, a free service provided to users of Panic apps. Panic Sync allows you to sync your saved servers and keys with other copies of Nova, Coda 2, and Transmit.

In order to use Panic Sync, you must first create or sign into a Panic Sync account, both of which can be done here. If you have an account but have forgotten your password, click Forgot? to have a password reset email sent to the email address you enter.

NOTE: Panic Sync uses its own account system, separate from the account you use to manage your Nova license. Your credentials used at accounts.panic.com will not work for Panic Sync.

Options

Once signed in, the Sync settings will display the time of the most recent sync, along with options to Sync Now or Sign Out. Panic Sync should automatically keep your servers and keys in sync without you having to take any action, but you can manually perform a sync here if needed.

NOTE: Panic Sync does not sync your Nova Projects, only your saved servers and keys.

At the bottom of the window, you’ll see some additional info.

Account Name
The email address on the account Nova is signed into.
Repository
Displays whether this app syncs with the default Panic Sites bucket, used by Nova and Transmit, or with a separate bucket used by Prompt. In Nova, this should always display “Panic Sites (Default)”.
Devices
Lists all other devices signed into this account for Panic Sync, as well as the date and time they lasted synced with the cloud.
Manage Account
This option allows you to open sync.panic.com in your browser for account management, or delete your account.

Reset Sync

In the event that Panic Sync does not seem to be syncing your data as expected, you can perform a Reset Sync. This feature allows you to force Nova to either delete all data from the cloud and replace it with your current local data, or delete all local data and replace it with the latest data from the cloud.

To perform a Reset Sync, hold ⌥Option. You should see the “Sync Now” button change to “Reset Sync”, which you can click to begin.

When performing a Reset Sync, you’ll be given the following options:

The available options when performing a Reset Sync.
Merge/Continue Sync
Attempt to combine any local servers and keys in Nova with the data found in the cloud, similar to a normal sync operation.
Replace All Data In Nova On This Mac
Delete all saved servers and keys stored locally in Nova, and replace them with the data currently hosted in the cloud.
Replace Data On All Other Devices
Delete all saved servers and keys in the cloud, and replace them with the servers and keys stored in Nova on this Mac. This will replace any servers and keys in other Panic apps and on other devices the next time they sync with Panic Sync.

These options may also appear if the data in the cloud is significantly different than your local data.
